Registration vs visa: two OET requirements
The board that licenses you and the department that admits you set separate OET requirements. Where they disagree, and which one bites.
"What OET score do I need?" is two questions wearing one coat, and answering the wrong one is expensive.
Registration is the board that licenses you to practise: the NMC, AHPRA, the GMC, a provincial college, a state board. Immigration is the department that lets you into the country: the Home Office, the Department of Home Affairs, IRCC, NZQA.
Separate applications. Separate English requirements. Separate validity windows. No communication between them.
Where they disagree
Most of the time the two line up and the distinction costs you nothing. In a handful of cases they do not, and every one of them runs the same expensive direction — the visa route wants a higher grade than the board does:

Read the body names, not just the countries. The Australian and New Zealand rows are national: there is one Australian Pharmacy Council and one Nursing Council of New Zealand, so those comparisons hold for anyone on that route. The United States rows compare the most lenient state boards against a federal programme, so they describe a risk that exists somewhere in the US rather than a rule that applies everywhere in it.
The Australian pharmacy case is the cleanest illustration. The Australian Pharmacy Council accepts C+ in Writing. The Department of Home Affairs asks for B. A pharmacist who prepares to the board's number, sits the test, and scores 320 in Writing has met the body that decides whether they may practise, and not the one that decides whether they may enter.
The three ways this goes wrong
Preparing to the higher of the two when only the lower applies right now. If you are months from a visa application, the board's threshold is the one in front of you. Preparing for a number you will not be asked for is how a re-sit gets booked for nothing.
Meeting registration and finding the visa wanted something else. The case above. Nothing warns you: the board's acceptance letter says nothing about immigration, because it has nothing to do with it.
Assuming one validity window covers both. OET results are typically treated as valid for two years, but the two bodies apply their own windows and some are shorter. A result that is live for your board can be expired for your visa.
What to do about it
Work out which gate you are at right now and answer only that one. Then, before you book the test, check the other one too — not to prepare for it, but so you know whether the number you are aiming at is the higher of the two.
If they differ, aim at the higher one in a single sitting where you can. Combining grades across sittings is allowed by some boards and not others, and the visa route may not allow it at all.

The caveats that matter
This compares what OET publishes for each body. It is not immigration advice, and a visa route may impose English requirements that never reach OET's list at all — points-based systems in particular score English separately from the minimum.
Some bodies publish nothing. Where OET lists a regulator with no grade, the only source is the regulator.
