Is OET Live an official OET product?
No. OET Live is an independent AI Speaking coach built for migrating healthcare professionals. The Occupational English Test (OET) is a registered trademark of Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment. We're not affiliated with or endorsed by OET — we just deeply respect the official rubric and built our scoring around it.
When does the iPhone app launch?
We're in private development now and rolling out TestFlight access to waitlist members in waves. Drop your email and we'll notify you the moment your build is ready — no spam, just one email per release.
How does the AI scoring compare to a real OET examiner?
Every role-play is scored on the full 9 OET Speaking criteria — intelligibility, fluency, appropriateness of language, resources of grammar and expression, plus the five clinical communication criteria. We use modern reasoning models to evaluate transcripts against the public OET rubric and pair that with industry-grade pronunciation analysis for syllable-level accuracy. The scores correlate strongly with examiner ratings on calibration sets, but they're a study tool — not a substitute for the live exam.
Does OET Live cover OET Writing as well as Speaking?
Yes. Alongside the AI-patient Speaking practice, OET Live includes the OET Writing sub-test. You get a timed letter-writing mode that mirrors exam conditions and an untimed practice mode with hints and model answers, a bank of profession-specific referral tasks, and automatic marking on all six official Writing criteria — purpose, content, conciseness and clarity, genre and style, organisation and layout, and language — with inline annotations and band-5 and band-7 sample answers. Writing is free and unmetered during the current beta.
