What optometrists get

Built around the scenarios optometrists actually face.

An optometrist explaining a new glaucoma diagnosis and treatment plan to a patient who is worried about losing their vision.

Optometry role-plays

Cases generated against a optometry topic schema — diabetes counselling, post-op handover, macular degeneration education.

Every OET criterion, scored

Intelligibility, fluency, appropriateness, grammar, empathy, patient perspective, structure, gathering, giving — plus a 0–500 overall and an A–E grade.

Pronunciation diagnostics

Industry-grade pronunciation analysis surfaces the specific words that hurt your score — including the clinical vocabulary optometrists say every day.

Cue verification per task

Each role-card has 4–5 tasks. We verify each one against your transcript with the exact quote you used — hit, partial, or miss.

Targets optometrists' weak spots

Most optometrists lose marks in the same places: information giving (anatomy + risk explanation), empathy around vision loss, understanding the patient perspective (independence). The recommender targets these criteria first.

Optometry Writing letters, marked

Write a optometry referral letter against a profession-specific case, then get it scored on all six official OET Writing criteria — with inline annotations and band-5 + band-7 model answers.

Privacy by default

Your recordings, transcripts, and scores stay on infrastructure we control. Export everything, delete your account, and your data is gone.

Where optometrists use it

What each board asks for

You may not need Grade B in all four.

Optometry boards in Australia and New Zealand both ask for Grade B. Note what is missing: no UK optometry regulator appears on OET's list, so anyone heading to the UK should confirm with the General Optical Council rather than assume.

  • Compiled from OET's own list of recognising organisations, captured 2026-08-21. One row per country: where several bodies gate registration, the table shows the one that registers optometrists specifically.
  • Rows marked "not published" are bodies OET lists as accepting the test without stating a grade. They do accept OET — the number simply has to come from the regulator directly.
  • Always confirm against the regulator before you book. A board can change its requirement between our weekly refresh and your application, and some accept scores combined across two sittings while others do not.

The answer for one country

A page per destination, stating what optometrists need there and which board decides — built to be linked when somebody asks.

Phrase bank

Four phrases worth drilling.

Internalise these and you'll have go-to language for the moments that matter most in migrating optometrists' consultations.

Validating fear

Losing your sight is one of the biggest worries — let me explain what we're seeing and what we can do.

Translating anatomy

The pressure in your eye is a bit higher than we'd like. Over time that can damage the nerve at the back of the eye — that's what we call glaucoma.

Treatment options

There are a few options. Let me walk you through them so you can decide what fits.

Closing

Before you go, what's the main thing you'll go home and tell your family about today's visit?

Now scoring OET Writing

Not just Speaking — OET Writing for optometrists, too.

Write a optometry referral letter against a profession-specific case — timed under exam conditions, or untimed with hints and model answers — and get it marked on all six official OET Writing criteria. Inline annotations show the phrases that cost you marks, and band-5 + band-7 sample answers show the next band up. There is no word-count penalty: length is judged only through relevance and summarising.
